D'BRIS Shoes
After busting through yet another pair of sneakers at the skatepark, DRIS founders Joe and Magnus realized most shoes were just no match for their active lifestyles. As avid surfers who were used to seeing trash bob around their boards, knowing that they were adding to the problem by having to constantly throw away old beat-up sneakers was chewing them up. That's when they realized the problem could become its own radical answer: turn trash into shoes!
With soles made from recycled car tires, upper canvases created from recycled ocean plastic, and insoles formed from recycled cork, DRIS shoes are as sustainable as they are inspirational. That's because they're more than just a pair of durable, comfortable, slick-looking sneakers. They're also an invitation to #rethinkconsumption, to open people's eyes to the impact that mindless habits have on our planet, and to invite and inspire action and create change.

Our Shoes Are Trash
Where most people see waste and discarded trash, D'BRIS only sees opportunity! The outer canvases of their sneakers are made from post-consumer plastic (5-10% of which is ocean-harvested by local fishermen and NGOs). Their soles are made from recalled tires and rubber scraps. The insole is crafted from EVA and PU offcuts and recycled cork, while the remainder of the shoe is made from a smattering of organic cotton and repurposed materials. All that trash adds up to create a thoughtfully-designed sneaker that is not only durable and comfortable but is specifically crafted to maximize the use of recycled and repurposed materials.
D'BRIS also ensures that the production of their shoes lives up to the high standards of the shoes themselves. Each D'BRIS shoe is handcrafted in a solar-powered facility in Spain, by employees with guaranteed high-quality working conditions and fair wages. Plus, nearly all of the materials that go into each shoe are locally-sourced, reducing transportation emissions and their overall footprint.
With their dedication to rethinking mindless habits, it won't come as any surprise to know that D'BRIS shoes ship without any plastic packaging. Instead, when you order a pair of D'BRIS shoes, they'll arrive at your doorstep in already-recycled cardboard that can itself be recycled again!
